Semblanza

Alan Altamirano started his artistic career at 16 years old, going to drawing and painting classes at the Escuela de Bellas Artes. After graduating, he majored in Visual Art at the University Benito Juarez in Oaxaca, soon forging his own path through the huge amounts of creation and art that flows through the city of the Oaxaca. It is exactly in the middle of this huge mass of creation where the art of Mk Kabrito shines: as an honest and personal offering, in which the threads of infinity caress human nature, all the while represented through the feminine.

At 29 years of age he has mounted 19 individual expositions, and participated in more than 50 collective expositions in countries including Italy, Cuba, Serbia, Spain, Romania, Japan, China, the United States, Argentina, and Mexico. He was recently awarded with the Third Prize in The 10th kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints, and his art has been recognized in many different national and international competitions, including the 6th Guanlan International Print Biennial (China),  Bienal Internacional Print Exhibit (Taiwan), Tercer Concurso Internacional de Grabado Garzapapel (Spain), 12.Th International Biennial of Engraving Premio Acqui (Italy) y la IX Trienal Internacional de Grabado Kochi (Japan). He has been provided grants by the Secretary of Culture of Oaxaca and Generator for projects like the International Print Portfolio Raíces I, II y III. He is the cofounder of the Taller Galería Gabinete Gráfico 2011 and founder of the print studio La Chicharra 2014, of the Galería Bel 2015 and of the Taller Oaxaca Gráfico 2016

Mk Kabrito strives to eternalize human existence in his art, finite and ephemeral, through representation of the soul. In it, woman is portrayed as the architect of the absolute, as the vital center of the universe, as almost omnipotent, grooved by a spiritual line that extends into eternity. Interlaced with a never ending labyrinth of marks, that line circles and unties forever, making it the infinite, that dissolves the material in reflections, in dreams, in phantoms. In the art of MK Kabrito, water, earth, fire, and air repeat in a cyclical manner, creative and pure elements; fractals, fish and orchids, representing the unity and uniqueness of human beings.

Mk Kabrito (1988)

Inicia su carrera artística a los 16 años, asistiendo a cursos de dibujo y pintura en la Escuela de Bellas Artes. Posteriormente, se forma como licenciado en Artes Plásticas y Visuales en la Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca. Oaxaqueño, citadino, incursiona profesionalmente abriéndose paso entre el aglomerado de haceres y creaciones que confluyen en la ciudad de Oaxaca. Y es justo en medio de esta masa creativa donde la obra de Mk Kabrito surge como una propuesta honesta y personal, en la cual los hilos del infinito acarician la naturaleza humana representada a través de lo femenino.

A sus 29 años, ha realizado 19 exposiciones individuales y más de 50 exposiciones colectivas en países como Italia, Cuba, Serbia, España, Rumania, Japón, China, Estados Unidos, Argentina y México. Es ganador del Third Prize in The 10th kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints en Japón. Su obra gráfica ha sido seleccionada y finalista en diversos concursos nacionales e internacionales, entre los que destacan: 6th Guanlan International Print Biennial (China), Bienal Internacional Print Exhibit (Taiwan), Tercer Concurso Internacional de Grabado Garzapapel (España), 12.Th International Biennial of Engraving Premio Acqui (Italia) y la IX Trienal Internacional de Grabado Kochi (Japón). Ha sido becario por la Secretaría de las Culturas de Oaxaca y Generador de proyectos como las Carpetas Internacionales de Grabado Raíces I, II y III. Es cofundador del Taller Galería Gabinete Gráfico 2011 y fundador del taller de gráfica La Chicharra 2014, de la Galería Bel 2015 y del Taller Oaxaca Gráfico 2016.

Mk Kabrito busca eternizar en su obra la existencia humana, finita y efímera, mediante la representación del alma. En ella, la mujer es concebida como artífice de lo absoluto, como centro vital del universo, casi omnipotente y surcada por una línea espiritual que se extiende hasta la eternidad. Enmarañada en una suerte de laberinto incesante, tal línea se enreda y se desata inagotablemente, es el infinito, que disuelve la materia en reflejos, en sueños, en espejismos. En la obra de MK Kabrito, se repiten de manera cíclica, infinita, agua, tierra, fuego y aire, elementos creadores y purificadores; fractales, peces y orquídeas, que representan la unicidad e irrepetibilidad del ser humano.
